Hi
Can anyone guide me how do I interconnect the switches in my situation. We got new office with 140 Network points, 4 X 48port 2900 series switches.
Vendor recommends a distribution switch in our scenario to connect all 2900 switches. In future connection will be established from new office to Warehouse. One Internet link to service provider for Email and browsing. Do I need distribution switch and if so then which model.
kindly reply
thank you

It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. One of your switches will likely become a "distribution switch" even if you don't add another. How large is your current network?
On another note, It probably wouldn't hurt to have somebody come in and put a network design together for you, and then you can implement based off of that design.

Hi,
As dbass says, it is purely depends on your network size like user count, and how much critical interms of availability and all.
You said the internet line only for browsing and Email, So is that traffic between new office to wherehouse will not come on this link in future?
For now I would suggest a 3750 for distrubution and all 2950 switches will be your access switches where end users will connect.

Thanks Dbass and Naidu.
For now will have around 110 users and by year end we expect more 25 users. WH will access Email and Internet from New Office. Do 3750 supports 6 uplinks over fiber and got few Ethernet ports.

Depending on the model, a 3750 can support from 2 SFP to 12 SFP. If you stack, for example, two "G" model (which as 4 SFP) then you get 8 SFP ports. Alternatively, you can stack a "G" plus a non-"G" and you get 6 SFP ports.

Hi,
You can go ahead with cisco WS-C3750G-12S.
Total 24 Gig ports you will have, you can connect your six 2950 access layer switches to these ports and remaining you can use in anyway like connect servers.
Also you can configure Etherchannels in this.
Please rate if this helps you...
