Detail for the command "show mac address-table dynamic vlan 1"

Hi,

I would like to get complete detail for the command above.

Please find some part of the command output for my switch.

vlan   mac address     type        protocols               port

-------+---------------+--------+---------------------+--------------------

   1    0000.aab5.fed2   dynamic ip,ipx,assigned,other GigabitEthernet5/9

   1    0000.aabe.4adb   dynamic ip,ipx,assigned,other GigabitEthernet5/9

   1    0019.bbd8.1b7c   dynamic ip,ipx,assigned,other GigabitEthernet5/9

   1    0019.bbd8.1b8b   dynamic ip,ipx,assigned,other GigabitEthernet5/9

What my understanding about this command is that it shows all the Active and Non-Active devices whether PCs etc. which had connected on the port. Also, multiple Mac on one port (as per above output) depicting that we may have Hub connected to that port to which multiple PCs or Printers are connected.

My main intention is about its types i.e. Dyamic. If its 'dynamic' does it mean that we these ports are getting IPs Dynamically through DHCP or anything else.

My most important task is that I have all the list of MACs with me and would like to have All the IPs with that MAC Address along with the Ports connectivity.

Is there any other specific command or help I may have from your side...

Many thanks for your help...

Regards,

Yaseen

Dynamically means the switch learned the mac dynamically. Means switch leanred mac-address looking at the packet flowing through it

To know the All the IPs and related Mac, you can do a ping from a router in that subnet to brodcast address corresponding to your subnet . After that look at the Show ip arp output. This will show the IP address and the mac-address corresponding to that IP

I got your point but I would also like to know the Switch Port Details for the specific IP & MAC Address found in sh ip arp output.
