Different physical connections of the port channel

q-le
Level 2
Level 2

Hi ALL,

We have a 7K Core1 & Core2 and several access switches 3750X.

These access switches connect to the Core1 & Core 2 by port-channel for redundancy & speed

by Multimode Fiber cablings.

We now run new Single fiber cabling to replace these Multimode fiber cabling.

Is there anyway to migrate these Access switches to the new Single-fiber cablings during working hour and no down time?

I am thinking of disconnect a link to Core2 and move that link to the new Single-mode fiber connection but not sure if the port-channel would still work with two different physical cabling?

Any advise is much appreciated.

Thanks

P.

Hi

Your moving cabling from multimode to single mode but no change of speed right?
If so, you can remove, as you said, the link to Core2 and replace it with single mode. When finished, then do the same with Core1.
You can have single and multi mode in same etherchannel as soon as speed/duplex is equal.

Thanks
Francesco
