Hi
I am in dire need of some help please :-)
We have been testing VMware SRM with our Internal Production Clusters to our Disaster Recovery site.
4/5 Clusters recover without incident.
During test recovery of the The 5th Cluster the Production machines begin to respond intermittently to ICMP requests.
The default nature of VMware SRM is to use the same MAC address on the Recovery machines as the Production machines.
To test I have taken VMware SRM out of the equation and simply created a new Virtual Machine in the 5th cluster and on the Disaster Recovery Cluster
In the 5th site this VM has an address of 10.xxx.14.200 and is in VLAN 14
In the DR site this VM also has an address of 10.xxx.14.200, is in VLAN 114 and has THE SAME MAC address (Simulating SRM behavior)
VLAN 14 is L3, with a SVI on our core Cisco Switch
VLAN 114 is L2 (isolated from our Production Network for DR Testing)
All VLAN's are created on the CORE switch and propagated to all access switches using VTP.
When the VM is running in the 5th Site, immediately upon powering up the corresponding VM in the Disaster Recovery Site ICMP packets drop.
Can someone help to explain this strange behavior please? This is causing me a sever headache atm. and any help would be very much appreciated!
BTW - we have an all Cisco switch estate, comprising 4506, 3560 & 2960 running a mix of firmware revisions :-)
Many Thanks
Regards
David
