I'm about to install a 2950G switch in a new building; it will be mounted directly to the wall with the ports up, and I'm concerned about dust/debris (we're in the electrical room) getting into the switch. Is there a dust cover available that would protect the switch, or, failing that, is it possible to get dust caps for the unused ports?

I am not aware of a dust cover. And I would worry about the potential for any dust cover to restrict the air flow which would ultimately do more damage to the switch than debris. I have sometimes used blank cable connectors plugged into the ports to reserve/protect the port. It seems to me that if you were to put blank connectors into the unused ports it would supply sufficient protection from debris etc.

Hi laceyis,
The previous post is correct. There is not a dust cover for your switch. A cover would restrict the air flow and the switch would more than likely kill over. RJ-45 ends would be your best bet for covering the unused ports.
