Hi all, does framerelay normally get put on a serial connection? i saw a router today with an e1 port on it, and they say its a frame relay connection, is that right ?
The E-1 is just the media type. Frame Relay is layer 2 and is usually placed on T-1,E-1,T-3, E-3 as well as subrate 65k and 56k. The E-1 is just layer 1 media type.
can you explain a little more? so could you have frame relay over an ethernet connection ? and why use frame relay on the e1 connection, i thought e1's can be point to point, where as frame relay is a vc?
