EIGRP Authentication

Does eigrp authentication need to be configured across the entire eigrp network to work?

I have 3 routers.  Router 1 is connected to the Backbone and that is connected to Router 2.

R1 -- BB -- R2.

I have configured eigrp and see the neighbor relationships forming and all the routes show up in the routing tables as expected.

When I configure eigrp authentication between BB and R2, I no longer see the eigrp route to R1 in the R2 routing table.  R2 can ping BB but not R1.  R1 can ping BB but not R2.  BB can ping both.  I'm assuming eigrp authentication must be configured the same across the entire autonomous system.  Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks.

Hi,

It does not have to be configured on all the routers.  It could be just on BB and R2.  Have a look at this document you may have missed a step in configuring authentication and have lost your adjacency.
