Hi folks,
Our business has recently taken delivery of the Exterity IPTV solution - which includes a TV Gateway, an Encoder & multiple Media Players. There are plans to roll this out over the next couple of months.
The IPTV solution is for the campus only, i.e. not going beyond the L3 boundary. The campus L3 device is a Cisco 3850 and the campus switches are all 2960Xs.
At this point the remit is straightforward, the only devices that will require IPTV streaming are TVs in reception areas and breakout areas.
Can anyone provide some advice on their experience of multicasting, IGMP etc. and advice on how best to tackle this?
Thanks :-)
Davie

Hello,
with the information you have provided, a high level advice would be to use PIM sparse-dense and configure the 3850 as RP. That said, more detailed advice would require a better understanding of your topology. Can you post a drawing of your network ?

Hi Georg,
Thanks for your feedback.
The network topology is below.
I expect the Exterity IPTV Gateway will connect directly into the 3850 and the Media Players, which provide output to the display screens, will be connected to various 2960X's within the Campus.
Thanks again.
