Hi all,
I would like to know how fast a 6509 can accept mac address changes on different ports. Let me explain my situation:
I've got a Motorola Mea network attached to different 6509 switches (on 100BaseFX) which are redundantly connected (with 10Gbps) to two 6509 core switches. The wireless network is one big vlan spread over all switches. When a wireless modem roams from one AP to another, i see different mac address changes within 300ms on different ports. Appearantly everything looks fine. But sometimes, my end-device in the wireless network loos its connection for a couple of minutes (Max 5 minutes). I can see the mac address attached to the wrong interface while the other end devices behind the same wireless modem are correctly connected.

The mac-table will only be updated when the device itself is actually sending some traffic after roaming. This will allow the adress to be re-learnt.
Keep-alives from the network-side are no solution; as long as nothing is received from the device itself the existing table-entry will remain in-place. This also means that traffic to the device is sent via the wrong AP and is therefore not received by the host that it was sent to.
