Hi all, I have 4 frame relay circuits terminating over my serial connection, can anyone tell me what the max speed is of a frame relay connection? as I believe the serial is only capable of handling 2mbps max, and surely this means if I have multiple frame relay circuits, they would never reach there max speed from the isp??

Hi,
The physical interface gives you a max of 2M, you'll have to share this bandwidth over the 4 FR PVCs.

what about if I had an e1 interface? what other interfaces would be good for this? can you have frame relay over ethernet ?

Hi,
No you are always bound to the physical interface speed, and the Ethernet interface doesn't support FR encapsulation, if you require more speed use more serial interfaces.

Do you have 4 different physical connections? or one single physical connection with 4 pvcs? There are modules which support more than 2mbps. NM-1HSSI can support upto 52Mbps and
NM-4T can support upto 8Mbps if other 3 ports are not used.Checkout these modules.
