I picked up two 2948G switchers and kind of shocked to see they where made back in 1998, damn...
I don't have a console cable and both came from the city dump, I picked up both for $30
Anyway out of these two switches, one dosen't seem to be booting like the other one. After leaving the swtich for ten mintues, the network ports still don't light up, when I plug a test computer in.
The LED's are lit up as so:
Status: Orange
PSI: Green
RPSU: Off
CR5: Off
CR6: Off
(Yes I did open it up and poked my nose about, nothing seems to be broken, that is why I am hoping its a firmware issues)
Without getting my hands on a console cable right now, is there a way to reset the switch by any of the jumpers or the switch inside the swtich?
Catalyst 2948G Model: WS-C2948G

Also just to share, for $10 I picked up two 2950 and one 2960 from the dump also and ten 1900 for $20, I'm going to see about localy offloading the 1900's at a few places around the city.
Back at about 2002 I started learning about Switchers and Routers and took part in the Cisco CCNA my Collage was hosting, I didn't pass the final test, but I was the only person out of the class ready to do the final test on day, my scrode was about 50%
I will pick up a console cable, when I next get paid I kind of blew money I shouldn't have and now I'm broke.

Hello Michael,
I have checked everywhere and unfortunately you will need to console your switch to do resetting it to factory
defaults, please refer to the following link for more information about the procedure :
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps607/products_tech_note09186a00800c4546.shtml
Also in case you do not have the password please see the following procedure for the password recovery on your switch
http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_password_recovery09186a00801349aa.shtml
Finally I would like to wish the best of luck with your studies
Hope it will help

Yea, I came up with that too, I was hoping the jumpers on the logic board might be used for a reset and or the switch, but guess that failed.
I'll just have to wait until I can get myself a cable, I don't have an RS-232 cables floating about, so I can't maker one.
Thanks.
