Hard Setting Speed on 10gb Ports

JCMG-Network

Is it possible to manually change the speed of a tengigabitethernet port on a 4506 switch? When I go into the interface I am not presented with the "speed" command like I would be on a normal interface.

What I would like to do is hard set them to 1gb since the fiber connection too long to properly run at 10gb and is causing some performance issues.

Fiber ports don't usually have multiple speeds.  However, if your 10g port is SFP+, you should be able to use gig SFPs.

I believe they are SFP+ I will need to double check. I know I can just put in gig SFPs but I was trying to find a way around without having to buy anything.

Can you share below output

sh int tengig x/x

sh int tengig x/x transceiver details

sh run int tex/x

sh inventory

Here you go, I was able to get everything except the "sh int tengig x/x transceiver details" it was not an option. I could do a "show int transceiver details" but it did not produce any output. The SFP that is in there should be a X2-10GB-SR.

Hi,

You can try the following command and see if this helps.

configure terminal

hw-module uplink select (Tengigabitethernet | Gigabitethernet | All)

Hope it helps.
