hdlc, ppp, clocking rate

Hello,

I have to routers in a lab connected with a serial cable.

When I want to use hdlc as encapsulation, I just have to configure a ip address and the no shutwon command because hdlc is default.

On the DCE side, what I can check with "show controllers", I have to configure clocking rate.

When I want to use ppp, I have to configure ppp as encapsulation, an ip address and no shutdown.

My questions:

1) Are my explanations right?

2) Do I need to set the clocking rate on the DCE when I`m using ppp?

3) Must I configure the bandwith when I`m using ppp oder hdlc?

Thanks in advance :)
