HI,

In my lan infrastrucure one device (laptop having null mac address) is generating unnecessary traffic, switches broadcasting this traffic to every port.

remaining users getting 100% receive throughput in their laptops. so they are not able to access network.

any one please help me how to block this traffic in switch.

Thanks

shut the port down with "shutdown" command

thanks for your response.

if i shut the port what if that person connects to another port. I want the solution to block broadcast  traffic from that device which can connect any where in my lan segment.

You can configure broadcast storm control-

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2950/software/release/12-1_22ea/SCG/scg/swtrafc.html#wp1229854

I tried broadcast storm control but no use problem still persist.

I applied

storm-control broadcast level 1

on all the ports.

Hi Sri,

Span that port and see what kind of traffic you are receiving from that laptop . Also check if  that mac address keep changing or stays same mac address every time.

Analysis the span traffic will give more details about the problem .
