Hello,
I need to determine heat dissipation figures for the IE-4000-8GT8GP4G-E Ruggedised switch, can anyone point me to the information please? The datasheet doesn't seem to provide it.
Could I also get expert views regarding whether heat is likely to be excessive regarding our proposal to install 9 switches in a single enclosure (42U internal cabinet with fan air handling). The cabinet will be located in a environmentally controlled equipment room. Thanks.

heat dissipation cannot be more than the power that you put in !
the datasheet table-5 displays the power consumption as max 40W for the switch itself without PoE devices
for heat calculation you use this 40W
table-2 specifies the max PoE budget
IE-4000-4GS8GP4G-E | 8 GE, 125W |
in most cases you do not use all switches + all ports PoE+, so heat dissipation will be less than this max. calculated power
how much reserve you want? that is up to you
but with all at max. total is 165W per switch , (x9 = ......)
