I recently got an IEM-16P expansion module for an IE-3300-8P2S and cannot get it to pass POE. I've tried the expansion module on two separate 3300 base switches with the same result.
With a 48VDC 480W power supply I can power an IE-3300-8P2S with an IEM-8P expansion without issue
Using the same power supply and base switch, I connect the IEM-16P and get no errors, nothing in logs, zero debug output and a 15W camera never powers up.
I also tried disabling POE on a few ports wondering if the power was oversubscribed but that didn't change anything either.
This is my first 16P expansion and I only have one so I'm trying to figure out if I got a bad module out of the box or if there is a configuration setting somewhere that I'm not aware of. I've attached the config and the debug commands I ran.
Has anybody had an experience like this?

- @dbronco Presuming you are talking about the IEM-3300-16P expansion module ?
You have no attachments in the post.
Try when inserting the module connect to the IE-3300 first and issue the command
terminal monitor (to get console message in the SSH session too). Then insert the module
and watch for errors , if any.

Thanks for the response. Yes, IEM-3300-16P.
I'm connected via serial and tried what you suggested but when I inserted the module, the switch rebooted. The manual from Cisco states this is hot-swappable and doesn't need a reboot so I'm starting to lean more towards a hardware issue with the expansion module. Would you agree?

- @dbronco Attach a console to the switch; so that you can get the output of what happens when the switch reboots,

It could be a hardware issue if it's not delivering PoE and shows no logs or debug output. Since the same switch and power supply work fine with the IEM-8P, it's not a power or config issue. The 16P requires more power, so confirm the power supply meets full voltage and current specs. Also verify the switch IOS version supports IEM-16P and that PoE is enabled with correct commands.

That's what I'm leaning towards as well. I just increased the output of my power supply from 48VDC to 54 VDC to see if the IEM-3300-16P needed more voltage (although the datasheet doesn't say it does) but that didn't change anything.

To follow up on this, I created a case for an RMA. It seems this was bad out of the box
