Just to ask you because the 1941 cisco don't accept the default credentials after I put the following script

Config t

Hostname xxxxxxx

Enable secret heri1

Line vty 0 4

Password heri1

I rebooted the router and once it came back it didn't accept the cisco & cisco

Did you edit the console lines or just the terminal (vty) lines?

If you add a password to the vty lines, you will need to type this in once you drop and re-establish the Telnet/SSH session.

Is it not accepting the password you put in?

I didn't realise the 1941 had a default username/password, I thought you had to configure them with one.

Just I edited Line vty 0 4

You changed the secret above which would remove the cisco default set  secret

yeap, that is correct, I also changed the secret

....so if I re-establish the Telnet/SSH connection, can my new password works, right?

in this moment I am connected thru the console cable and the new password don't work

did you set an ip address on the router to telnet/ssh too ?

if the console pass is not working anymore you could easily reset it through recovery

Hola Mark

How can do a power cycle password recovery on this 1941 router, I can not see the mode button

hi

there is no mode buttons on routers usually , you need to let it start to load in console  and then hit ctrl break to get into rommon , step 4 in doc

4) Press Break on the terminal keyboard a couple of times after you see the message program load complete, entry point: 0×80008000, size: 0x6fdb4c in order to put the router into ROMMON.

Once you change the password to anything the default cisco /cisco is removed same as 800 series routers , the cisco/cisco is only there so people remember/advised to put a password on it and if not at least something is in place as security default as before they could be left completely open  , it states this as you log in and brings you to the first prompt
