Install a new 3750 into the exising stack

Hi Guys,

I have to install a new 3750 switch(switch 5) into the existing stack of four switches with a new 3 meter stackwise cable.

My question is if remove the existing cable coming from switch 1 (master) to switch 4 would it affect anything. Please see the attached diagram.

can anyone give the steps on how to perform this

Thanks for your reply guys.

I have to upgrade the whole stack to 12.2(55)SE1.

All the exuixting four switches have redundact connection to VMhosts and storage arrays.

Can i upgrade one switch at a time? will the connection to the hosts arrays be available from other 3 switches?

For a 3750 with a flash memory of 16mb, this is the highest version you can use, 12.2(55)SE, SE1, SE2, etc.

Do you mean reboot the stack members one at a time?  No you can't because the newly-rebooted switch stack members won't be able to join the stack due to IOS version incompatibility.
