Hello could somebody please help me get the following setup to work. It would be most appreciated. - here is the situation
Im a complete noob to networking but after a fair bit of research I get how the interVlan setup works at a basic level but how do you get vlan 1 with a mac computer connected to port 1 and vlan 2 with internet router connected to port 5 to communicate with each other - i have been through all the cisco videos online, followed all the steps but for the life of me I cannot get this to work - it shouldnt be this hard to achieve this simple task -
i have a very simple network - sg350-10p switch - mac computer on port 1/dante audio interface port 2/port 3 and 4 are empty reserved for future dante equipment - all on vlan 1 // port 5 is the internet router - port 6 is apple tv - both of these on vlan 2 // port 7 and port 8 both have avid eucon devices both on vlan 3 - all i want to achieve is to have just the computer on port 1 talk to vlan 2 and vlan 3 - how hard can this be. I am stumped. Can anyone please offer advice on how i can solve this. Thank you - can i do all of this just with the sg350 switch? do i need more equipment such as a seperate router - i bought the switch with the understanding that this was all i needed.
Ps just to be clear - the dante equipment on vlan 1 (ports 2-4) should not be seeing any information from the internet on vlan 2 port 5 and the eucon equipment ports 7/8, vlan 3 should not be seeing any information from the internet port 5. Thanks again
Ps ideally id like each vlan to have dynamic rather than static address's - vlan 1 with dante equipment prefers dhcp (port one with computer is set at static at the mo as mentioned, this is ok but ports 2-4 prefer dhcp - do i need to setup a seperate vlan on ports 2-4 to achieve this and just have the computer on vlan 1? for easy access to web interface/management - if this is the case then i will need vlan 1 (computer only) to communicate with the new vlan 4 for dante ports 2-4) - vlan 2 with internet and tv preferby dhcp - vlan 3 with eucon devices may have to have static ip address's on port 7 and 8, it does work with dhcp but ive found it more reliable to use eucon equipment with static ip's. Thanks (sorry if im not too clear, im no expert at all
The Computer settings are as follows -
configure IPv4: Using DHCP
IP Address: 192.168.1.202
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.1.1
DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
Search Domains: lan

Hi Flavio, please correct me if Im wrong but doesnt the running congig.txt document I exported from cisco web interface show the same information as "show running-config" file Im trying to get from mac os terminal once my cable shows up? Thanks

Just to add, I cant get the computer on port one to access the internet on port 5 when everything is set in their seperate vlans- ive tried setting port one as a trunk, nothing happens, i just need a step by step approach on how to do this as a noob please - at the moment ive set port one to a static ip address of 192.168.1.10 so i can get easy access to the cisco web based interface - this works, ive took all other settings back to the basic settings so now everything is just on the base vlan 1. It all works but its not the configuration i want.

It is pretty simple. Basically all you have to do is assign an Ip address to the interface vlan. The switch already has ip routing enable.
Take a close look on this video and tell me if you need any assistance.

Hi Flavio, thanks for your reply. Ive watched this video many times before you mentioned it to no success unfortunately. However i have reset the switch to default status and tried again, I followed the video exactly as the lady demonstrates but when i get to the IPv4 settings and put in the address 10.1.1.1 this message comes up
so I press ok and the web interface just freezes, so i then try to reconnect at 10.1.1.1 but no matter what I cannot reconnect - these are the settings i tried on my mac network system preferences to try to reconnect to web interface
So i reset the switch again (i must be up to 50+ times resetting the switch now trying to get this to work) and reverted to the settings that were working for me previously i.e i reset vlan 1 to 192.168.1.10
I went through the video again and got past the place where the web interface crashed before however i have some strange settings that just dont look right to me (i.e vlan 1 with 2 static ip addresses - this is the only way i can get the web interface to carry on and not crash.
I then followed the video and set up 3 network pools for the vlans (this is not explained in the video so here is an example of one of the pools - the rest i set up are the same apart from the ip address's obviously
The subnet ip address in the image is showing blank but i did fill it in with 10.1.1.1 with prefix 24 - i just had to go back into edit mode to take this photo thats why the field is blank i think - i then went back to my computer network settings and reconfigured to using dhcp automatically
All to no avail unfortunately - i tried one last thing and turned on DHCP Properties (not mentioned in the video)
Again to no avail. I cannot access the internet on port 5 from my computer on port one even with all these setting tried. I have had to now delete everything and just have vlan 1 enabled with all ports reset back to default status to be able to access the internet to write this reply. Very sorry for the long reply but just trying to be as thorough as possible in my reply. I can only think its maybe an issue to do with the network settings in the mac not being set right or me doing something wrong in the network pool settings. In the video the lady mentions changing the computer network settings to automatically obtain dns server addresses - i believe this is what the automatic setting does in mac network system settings using dhcp (i.e not dhcp with manual address or any of the other drop down menu items - there is an advanced dns options page in network setting in mac but this only seems to allow manually inputted dns settings by pressing the + button
Any way thats where i am now can you advise please. I nearly have no hair left trying to solve this

Hi, Heres another configuration im trying -
Evertything else im following along as the video does then in pool settings i do this
and then the same for each vlan just adjusting the subnet ip address to - vlan 2 192.168.2.10/24 and vlan 3 192.168.3.10/24 - then as before i turned on DHCP server status (i dont know if this is correct to do this?) Again my computer network settings are
I then tried to ping each address from administration in web console - 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.2.10 - 192.168.3.10 - all of them succeeded. I then tried to ping the same addresses from Macs terminal - 192.168.1.10 was fine the other 2 said no route to host
No joy unfortunately - can anyone advise. Thank you.

I dont know if you are aware but this blog does not accept prints or image on the post. So, I see you reffering to prints and I can see anything.
That being said, There´s all the change that your device is not working properly but we can go further to investigate.
Basically what you need is setup vlans and give it ip address. Would be nice if you were able to access the switch in CLI (command line interface) and then run the command "show running-config" and then share the config using the attachement.
The task you want to accomplish seems to be simple and I am sure we get through it.

Hi Flavio, apologies, I did not know that my images could not be seen. I am on a mac so im not sure what the the equivilant isto CLI but i can certainly set it up in the way ive been doing it and try to share the running config.txt tomorrow with you if thats any help. Thanks so much in trying to help me solve this.

I dont use Mac but I think it is easier. Try to install some app for SSH and then, enters the IP address and then credentials. Pretty straithforward.
Putty is supported in Mac and is pretty easy to use.

Ive got to be honest this is above my level of understanding - on the link you gave me it said the following -
The second option is to select New Remote Connection... from the Shell menu of Terminal. This opens a graphical dialog asking for the host to connect to and the user name. This also allows saving connections. This is recommended for users who are not accustomed to using a command line.
Please see attached image - i could maybe use this but im not sure what im entering into the required fields? Is there an easier way to try and solve this issue Im having? Thanks

I'll upload the running config.txt as well as all the images I tried to show you in my messages - I hope they can be of some help.

FYI Ive just ordered a usb to console cable so I can access the switch via terminal on the mac so hopefully ill be able to get the "show running-config" file you asked for within the next couple of days. Thanks.

Hi, this issue is being marked as solved but it is not solved yet. I would like to try and continue with this if possible - Ill try to have the file requested uploaded very soon, I have the cable now just trying to figure out terminal/CLI
