IOS 12.2SE End of SW Maintenance confusion

Hi,

I am currently deciding which IOS to use for various catalyst 3560 models. Version 12.2(55)SE3 seems fitting for this case, but I cant find out when the 12.2SE reaches End of Software Maintenance. I have checked this link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps8802/ps6969/ps1835/prod_bulletin0900aecd801eda8a.html#wp9000202

12.2SE is mentioned in the beginning, but not after that.

I have checked this link as well:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps8802/ps6970/ps1838/prod_end-of-life_notice0900aecd804be5cf.html

but 12.2SE is mentioned as an exception.

Where do I get info on 12.2.SE?? Can someone possibly point me in the right direction?

Ingo

Correct, there is no definete date set yet for this and we actively still maintaining the 12.2(55)SE throttle.
We will actually stll need to maintainin this train for some time still as there are a number of 3560 and 3750 switches

that are not End of Software Maintenance yet but do not run 12.2(58)SE or higher.

CSCsm27071 should be fixed in the 12.2(55)SE3 release

There are still a few releases planned in the 12.2(55)SE train, the upcoming release will be 12.2(55)SE7

For the 3560 that is the only 12.2 release train that is stil receiving new releases

Thanks for the quick reply. Does this mean there are no definate dates set for End of Software Maintenance or EoL of 12.2SE?

Another question - I have noticed the following while researching PSIRTS and Bugs: IOS Software Checker does not display Security Advisories that are listed in the Bug Toolkit as KAV for a certain IOS version.

e.g. for IOS 12.2(55)SE3:

- Bug CSCsm27071 is associated with SA cisco-sa-20090325-ip

- If I search for the Bug ID, then IOS 12.2(55)SE3 is listed as the KAV

- If I search with IOS Software Checker, then SA cisco-sa-20090325-ip is not listed for IOS 12.2(55)SE3.

Do you have any info on that? Can the IOS Software Checker be trusted?

Thank you for the info. The inconsistencies in the BugToolkit/IOSSoftwareChecker are still bothering me though. The KAV list of Bug CSCsm27071 seems to be incorrect then? Unfortunately this also applies (at least) to the following bugs too:

CSCsk64158

CSCsr29468

CSCsv04836

Do I trust the bug toolkit or the software checker?

I dont know about these tools or where they get their input from, but these tgree bugs should be included in the 12.2(55)SE3 release
