I am following the directions for recovering switch froma bad IOS image but i cant get the Management port to come up so i can perform the recovery.  Anyone seen this before?

You can recover the IOS by booting the IOS from a supported USB flash drive.  The command is "boot usbflash0:IOS.bin".

The out of band management port does not come up unless the switches is completely booted. If you are in Rommon and what Leo recommended does not work for you, than xmdoem is the other option.

Try initializing the management interface (switch: mgmt_init) as part of Step 7, Then follow the rest of the directions.
