IP SLA

We have 2 data centers connected via a L2 fibre link. In case the link should go down, we have a standby VPN that will go live once a route is down.

at one end is a switch (3750) and the other is a 3650.

3750 is using VLan 10 and 3650 is using vlan 20

I have configured the 3650  using IP sla echo reply for a default route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 and that works well when we bring the link down.

However on the 3750 I have tried to use IP sla for a static route to 192.168.20.1 as opposed to 0.0.0.0

0.0.0.0 as I cannot use all 0's route due to the Internet being on the 3750.

However I cannot add the track command to the route 192.168.82.0 as when I do, the routing fails.

Routing only works If I add the route without track command. So I cannot monitor the 82 network.

any ideas?

is it the same if you track an ip rather than the whole network 192.168.82.0 ?
in what way is the routing failing as really adding just track to it shouldn't break the path

I have tried both ways. When I add the route I cannot see it in the
routing table. only without the track command will it go into routing table
