Is it possible or should I ask, has anyone setup a Nexus Lab on Non-Cisco Hardware?

I work in a shop that uses Nexus equipment, from 1000 to 7000 series so we have licenses for the Nexus OS.

I was thinking that it would be ideal to setup a lab using a server and creating a Nexus OS based Lab, minus all of the Nexus hardware, small footprint, no real need for a big server, just enough to get the lab going.  Would it be possible to setup an environment such as this and does anyone has a recipe that they have used?  This is my new interest and I'm just now embarking on the research.

Thanks for any feedback,

MR

Check out Cisco VIRL or CML

cheers,

Seb.

For VIRL see this link for details. NX-OSv has only limited functionality with VIRL.

For example it doesn't support vPC or STP.
