Is there a way to send a software break signal to Cisco switches?

Which switch? In which condition? To interrupt the boot process?
Ctrl + Break
Ctrl + C
the list goes on.

I agree with Flavio that this is a very open ended question and we need some clarification: on what type of connection (is it console, vty, HTTP/HTTPS, something else)? Is it to interrupt the boot process or something else?
Joseph assumes that it is for a console connection (which I agree is the most likely) and I agree that the particulars of the solution depend on which terminal emulator you are using.

"Joseph assumes that it is for a console connection . . ."
BTW, actually, I don't assume that which is why my prior reply asks a question but if the answer to that question is yes, then my next statement applies. Also, Flavio had already asked for additional information.
As to why I focused on serial hardware break, although OP did ask about a "software break signal", because the latter might have intended the former, and the former is a bit more involved than a control-C.
But, Favio and Rick are both correct, in asking for additional information.

A serial hardware break signal?
If so, it depends on the terminal emulator.

hi,
yes, you can setup this on the terminal emulator program, i.e. secure crt.

Depends on what application.
I am using SecureCRT and I have a Ctrl+Break button I use exclusively to force the router into ROMMON.

I mostly use Putty, and that has a menu option to send a break.
