Issues with Micro USB console port on C9200CX-12P-2X2G-E

Question:

Hello, How do I console into a C9200CX-12P-2X2G-E?
- This particular switch has a Micro USB console port.

- I have no issues with Mini USB console ports on other 9200 series switches.

- I had to purchase a Micro USB to RJ45 adapter so that i can connect my Cisco USB to RJ45 cable. (No Success)

- I have read through the Cisco documentation on all the proper terminal settings and they are all standard.

- I have tried different console cables with no success

- I have made sure that the drivers on my computer are up to date.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Hello @martymar832 ,

hope you are doing well, I`m facing similar issues with the same switch.

what was the solution?

You can use a straight USB Type A to USB Micro cable the same way you use a Type A to USB Mini cables on other switches.

If you're using the RJ-45 adapter you're plugging this into a COM port right?

I’ve had the same issues with 9300’s at various times.
But those switches have a good old fashioned rj45 console port on the back and anytime I can’t get the mini usb to work, the traditional roll over cable in the back works every time. Even with a usb to serial adapter, since laptops don’t seem to have serial ports any longer. HTH.

Yeah I manage the 9300 too, but sometimes the switches get mounted on enclosed racks where it’s extra difficult to reach the console port at the back. Thats where connecting through the front becomes the only option unless you want to unrack the switch just to get behind.

The 9200CX is another problem on its own, as there’s no traditional console port at the back so you only have the micro usb option
