L3 Routing

Lads,

Follows the instruction to implement L3 routing below:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk815/technologies_configuration_example09186a008019e74e.shtml

However, the part where I have to alter one switch port to a routed port is causing problems. As soon as I do that I cannot access the network connected to the router.

However if I connect the router to the switch on a dot1q trunk port, then everything works fine.

I have configured VLAN1 with an ip address and issued ip route commands to the Router.

Can someone clarify?

If you are using the vlan 1 SVI for the ip address then your connecting port would be a switchport not a routed port . If you want to use the actual port as a routed port then get rid of the int vlan 1 ip address and put that on the routed port (no switchport) that you configure .
