Layer 3 routing and WS-X45-SUP6-E

New in an environment and getting some equipment up and running.  I have a WS-X45-SUP6-E and im trying to enable simple layer 3 routing between vlans.  When I run the ip routing command it doesn't seem to take.   Was doing some reading and it seems like Cisco has changed some things around and now if I want to do layer 3 routing I need to purchase an additional license for this functionality?  Am I reading this correctly?

The device is currently running cat4500e-ipbasek9-mz.152-2.E.bin, its not in production yet so im flexible if I need to change IOS

What is your license level?

post the output of "show license"

HTH

That is the thing, when I try to check it doesnt seem to know that command

#show license
                 ^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

Here is my show module:

#show module
Chassis Type : WS-C4507R-E

Power consumed by backplane : 40 Watts

Mod Ports Card Type                              Model              Serial No.
---+-----+--------------------------------------+------------------+-----------
 1    48  10/100/1000BaseT Premium POE E Series  WS-X4648-RJ45V+E
 3     6  Sup 6-E 10GE (X2), 1000BaseX (SFP)     WS-X45-SUP6-E

Go HERE and scroll down to Table 1.  It should tell you which routing protocols are supported in IP Base and Enterprise.
