Ok I need some help I am totally lost here

So i put a username password on my line con 0 and did a login local command.

everything work as is suppose to.

Now my problem is I was trying to figure out how to erase it so I went back and did this command  ( Conf t---no username Christian no password )

when i did a show run it deleted it.

But when i do a log off  then hit return I get a prompt to enter username and password. And my orginal username and passwords dont work since i deleted it.

so now i cant access the switch.

question one.

1. how do i get access back to the switch ?

2. how do you actually delete the login and password to the line con 0?

thanks

Since you only deleted the line for the console, hopefully, you have the username and password for vty lines. So, if the device has an IP address try and telnet or ssh to it and see if you can get in if not hopefully you didn't save the config and so you can reboot the device and it will go back to the old state.

The problem here is that the console still specifies login local. That is a problem if there is not a user ID and password configured on the device. What you should have done was to remove login local from the console.

Reza makes a good suggestion about trying telnet and SSH access. If that works it is the best way to recover. (If you have a user ID and password that work for telnet or SSH then that same ID and password should work for the console) If telnet and SSH do not work you might see whether the device has an aux port and if so whether it will allow you to access using aux.

If that does not work then the suggestion to power cycle might resolve your issue (as Reza explains that works if you made the change but did not save it). If power cycle does not solve your issue then you would need to perform password recovery which would boot without using startup config and allow you to access the device.
