Team,
We are struggling a bit with lldp support on an old Cisco switch and was wondering in case we can get any expert opinion.
This switch is not ready to accept the command "lldp run".
We are wondering if it could be a license issue or a version issue.
Here are the details:
1. 12.2(55)SE10 (SW version)
2. c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE10.bin (Image)
as per the Cisco documents this should be supported:
Any idea?
Regards!!
N.

Try upgrading to the latest 15.0(2)SE train.

Hello,
the problem is that your switch is end of life as of 2012, so you cannot download another software version from the Cisco website. I remotely remember when LLDP was introduced, basically, if it is not in the image, your only option is to update.
Maybe you can contact Cisco and ask if you can get an image for that switch. Tell them you are a student, and this is not a production switch, and that you need the image just for learning purposes...

Thanks Georg. Let me check how that goes.

I do recall the earlier IOSs for the 3560/3750 series either didn't support LLDP or were buggy. I thought (?) by 55SE10 LLDP worked.
You might check the release notes for the 55SE series to see if there's any mention about LLDP. You also might check release notes for the ROMMOM upgrades (if they exist) too, also for LLDP mentions.
I also remember, way, way back, some issue we had with non-Cisco VoIP phones, using LLDP, on the 3750 series. Don't recall all the details beyond we did have to upgrade something on the switches to negate the problem.

Currently have several stacks of 3750X, 15.2(4)E7 (and later) firmware, and LLDP works like a charm.
Plug the same client to a switch with IOS-XE and I get nothing but trouble.
