Log error and switches down

Hi, all of our access switches 3850s connected to a distribution 4500X went down this morning for two minutes. This is the error I see in the logs of the uplink of the access switches, any input on what could be the cause? Logs of 4500X show me nothing.

Feb 5 05:31:29 EST: %FED_PM_ERRMSG-3-HW_ERROR: 1 fed: Port Manager error -port mode dtp: hardware update failed.

what image version are you on ? there is a few known bugs for that alert in 3850s and IOS-XE images

Was anyone making any changes when it happened

Thanks! No, there were no changes by the time this happened.

Some of them are on version 03.02.03E and some on 03.03.04SE

I'd recommend upgrading the firmware.
