Multicast between vlan's on a 3750 stack running ipbase

I have a network running a stack of 3750-X as the core, including routing for the entire network.

Version: 12.2(55)SE3  IPBASE

I need to pass multicast traffic across 3 VLANs.  Unfortunately, IP Base only runs IP PIM Stub routing, and I do not have a router on the network to use as my multicast RP.

I an trying to determine if I can make this work with an igmp configuration.

It seems that the 'ip igmp join-group' command might help to accomplish this goal however I would be risking processor spikes. I don't expect a great deal of multicast traffic so my risk should be low.

Any insights are apprciated on how I can best pass multicast from one vlan to another in this situation.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi,

if 'ip igmp join-group' can be used on your switches (I always thought it's only available for routers, that is, I never tried it on switches) it's probably the only way to get your multicast traffic flooded through your network.

Alternatively you have to upgrade your IOS.
