New to configuring an SG300-10 managed switch in L2 mode

I have been trying to configure my SG300-10 managed switch. I have a small home LAN that I want to put the switch between the DSL router and my devices. I have created three VLANs and a default gateway pointing to the router. The problem is I cannot connect to the Internet with the switch connect to the DSL router.

I have assigned IP addresses to each VLAN, but each time I run the show running-configuration command only the last IP I configured appears. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

If the SG300 is running in L2 mode, have you correctly configured the sub-interfaces on the DSL router switchport that you are connecting it to?

If the switch is in L2 mode what IP address are you trying to configure? At most you will need just one IP to be used for management purposes.

Please share the running config of the SG300 and some details of the Layer3 topology you are trying to implement.

cheers,

Seb.

Thanks for your assistance Seb, below is a screen shot of the running
config.

Your question about the management IP, I configured it to 192.168.254.201
from the 192.168.1.254. I am using a serial cable not the GUI.

I haven't configured anything on the router side.

Hello again,

Can you try attaching the screenshot, or paste in the running config?

cheers,

Seb.

Seb,

I got the switch to communicate with the router and my other devices. After
reading you first response "At most you will need just one IP to be used
for management purposes." I realized that my network had one IP address and
the VLANs I had created wouldn't work because all the VLANs were in the
same subnet. I deleted VLANs 10 and 30. Then I created VLAN 50 allowed
access for the ports connected to my devices.
