HI All,
We have got 2 5548 & had asked our support partners to configure the switches in Active/Active mode, when in am checking the HSRP details now, it is showing as Active on 1 5548 & Standby on the other. Is there some config mistake?
I want the config to work in ACTIVE/ACTIVE mode.
pasting the config output:-

Hi Pratik,
HSRP is a FHRP (First Hop Redundancy Protocol) and therefore it works in active/standby fashion.
So what you see is expected.
Check also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Hop_Redundancy_Protocols
What you might want to know is that if your N5k's are configured with VPC's (with HSRP on) from a forwarding perspective both the active and standby switch will forward frames destined to the VIP - meaning that in fact HRSP with VPC works in active/active mode.

The only restriction is that Dynamic Routing between External L3 Devices and vPC Peers over vPC or vPC VLANs is not supported.
