Nexus 5548UP Upgrade

I would like to know if direct upgrade from 5.0(3)N2(1) to 7.1(4)N1(1)  is possible. Or do i need to go through intermediate path to upgrade to 7.1(4)N1(1).

Look forward to your assistance asap.

Here's a non-disruptive upgrade path I completed recently:

5.2(1)N1(1b) ->  5.2(1)N1(9a) -> 7.0(7)N1(1) -> 7.1(4)N1(1) -> 7.3(2)N1(1)

...although the versions are not quite as old as you need.

If moving to a new version I'd suggest moving to first releases first, so for you:

5.0(3)N2(1) -> 5.0(3)N2(2b) -> 5.1(3)N1(1) -> 5.1(3)N2(1c) -> ...

Your best bet is to get these old NX-OS images onto the switch and run through the 'sh install all impact' commands.

cheers,

Seb.

Hi there,

You should be able upgrade straight to the higher version. If you are running a vPC configuration then it will be marked as disruptive as the control plane and data-plane on the switch being upgraded will need to be reloaded. If all your connected devices are using vPC's then this disruption should largely go un-noticed (depending on how much bandwidth they require from their port-channel links to the 5k)

Obviously if you carefully follow the upgrade path from v5 to v7 you can do it all using ISSU and it will be non-disruptive.

cheers,

Seb.

Hi Supik,

Thank you for the response.

I have gone through other forum updates and most of the people faced below bug while upgrading from 5.x to 7.x.

Do you know exact path to go from 5.0(3)N2(1) -> 7.1(4)N1(1) by any chance ? I don't any release notes for  5.0(3)N2(1) as its too old. I have gone through release notes 7.1(4)N1(1) but still no clear idea.
