I have a Nexus 5548UP switch with a couple of systems some of which have been configured with 1Gb nic's running various OS's and other that have 10Gb nic's. When I try to SSH from 1Gb box to a 1Gb box everything is fine, when I SSH from 1Gb to 10Gb box it does not work but 10Gb to 10Gb boxes will work. The switch is a fresh install and has one VLAN 51 the first 2 ports are setup with LACP and the only differences is speed of 1000 and 10000 for the boxes attached. Is there some trick or additional configuration that is needed to make 1Gb to 10Gb work for SSH and other applications? I trying to setup some test boxes now to have a repeatable environment and will update when completed.

What is the output of "sh portch summary" and "sh int po1"?
There isn't special config needed it to go between 1G and 10G ports.
What you say 1G to 10G, are you referring to the application/host that is connected to each port?

I have a laptop connected to a port on the switch and I am currently adding a SUSE 11 SP2 to another port that has a 10G card for a NIC. Once I finished the install I will post more specific tests using ping and SSH to illustrate.
Here is the output you requested.

OK, The issue has been resolved.
What was neglected in the first post was that I just got this new switch because we had the same switch with the same basic config but the difference being that we suspected the switch to be bad. It had indicated failed ports in the 1Gb slots about 7 of 32 were noted as failing to receive a 10Gb SFP but would accept a 1Gb SFP. So we testing not using the bad ports on the switch and still had the issue. Nobody here expected the switch to fail in that manner but we ordered a new 5548. I was still rebuilding the environment today when I posted the question and now that I have rebuilt the network with 2 hosts and tested I was able to go out the 10gb and join the domain, ssh to 10gb hosts, ssh to 1gb hosts and go from 1gb hosts to the 10gb host. Thanks for the input and confirming that there is no config special to get 1Gb to talk too 10Gb ports.
