Hi:
I have 2 Nexus 7K in a VPC Domain and a 6509 acting as an access switch.
I want to vpc the 6509 to the 2 Nexus.
Let's say domain is already created.
For the downstream link going to the 6509.
On the Nexus:
switch(config)# interface gig 4/1
switch(config-if)# channel-group 50 mode active
switch(config)# interface port-channel 50
switch(config-if)# vpc 50
How do I configure the 6509. Shouldn't id be a command under channel-group like "vpc 50". How will the 6509 know that it is participating in a VPC.
I have done vpc between 2k and 5k and I remember that I had co configure vpc xxx on the channel-group at the 2k level.
6509(config)#interface gig8/1
6509(config)#channel-group 50 mode active
6509(config)#??????????????????????--------->> anything more to do here
Thanks.

Hi,
Nothing special need to be configured on 6500s. From 6500s perspective, it is connecting to one device.

Lei Tian:
From the above config can I use channel-group 100 instead of 50. Or they have to match?
6509(config)#interface gig8/1
6509(config)#channel-group 100 mode active
6509(config)#??????????????????????--------->> anything more to do here
Thanks.

You have already had this answered in another thread.

sorry to drop in this thread, in his case, he is doing vPC from the two 7ks to the two 6509s non VSS switches, will it hurt to add a port channel between the 6509s for failover and throughput purposes? (host in same vlan across the two 6509s).
thanks,

Allen, as I understand its one cat6k connected to two n7k
If you want to connect two cat6k switches - they have to be connected either via separate vpc port channels, or must run vss and be connected via one vpc port channel.
HTH,
Alex
