I just received 2 brand new C9200CX switches to put to use at my business. Unlike the other switches I have on property this one has the micro USB port for the serial connection. I have downloaded and installed the USB driver from Cisco. I am unable to connect to either of the two switches. My computer only sees these switches as unknown USB devices. I have tried all of the baud rate setting with PUTTY with no luck. I have tried using Tera Term to connect also with no luck. My computer does not see the connection as a com port connection with either of these two switches. I have unloaded the USB console driver several time still with no luck. I also went as far as to buy a USB cable labeled and sold as a console cable with no luck. I would really like to learn what exactly it is that I am missing. Also just to share, some of my other Cisco switches do have a micro USB console port on them besides the RJ45 console port. I plugged my USB cable into one of those switches and it connects with no issues meaning my problem is directly related to the 9200X switches I have now. If I can not access these switches and program them in a fashion that will work with my network they are useless to me and I will be forced to spend a lot of money to buy switches something that I will not truly use all of its capabilities.

I am not sure about this model but 9200 offers the possibility of setup via gui
Step 4
Launch a web browser on the PC and enter the device IP address (https://192.168.1.1) in the address bar.
Step 5
Enter the Day 0 username webui and password serial number. Note that the serial number is case sensitive.

This did not work. I was not able to connect to that IP address.

So I did find this and it may need the silicon labs driver vs the cisco driver.
Seems they expect windows to find it?
Step 1 |
Connect a USB cable to the PC USB port. Connect the other end of the cable to the switch mini-B (5-pin-connector) USB console port. |
||
Step 2 |
Launch the Windows Update page by clicking on the Update & Security button on the Windows Settings. |
||
Step 3 |
Click View optional updates. |
||
Step 4 |
Expand Driver updates and select Silicon Laboratories Inc. – Ports 10.x.x.x. |
||
Step 5 |
Click Download and install button. Once the driver installation is complete, disconnect the USB cable from the PC USB port and the switch.

This driver did not solve my issue. Still no connection from either of the two switches I have at my workstation.

Try to keep it simple: Use a generic USB Type A to USB Micro-B
I use, for instance, Baseus Cafule Cable USB For Micro 2A on any Windows 10/11 laptop without any problem (no need to download any drivers).

generic cable does not work either. I have ordered a DB9 to usb cable to try using with my console connector as it shows a port connection simply by plugging it into my computer, I this console adapter for all of my other network switches.
I will share if it works after I receive and give it a try.
