Hello all,
I have 2 Nexus switches and i want to configure them to use TIME.WINDOWS.COM ntp server.
I used "ntp server TIME.WINDOWS.COM" command, they accepted it but when i check the time it's wrong despite that it seems that they have synched (time is without asterisk)
Nexus-01#sh clock
11:47:39.364 UTC Thu May 3 2018
I have disabled and re-enabled feature ntp, but still nothing.
Any ideas?
Also, can you please explain me what is clock protocol none in show run output? Is it related with my case?
Thank you

Hi,
When you use dns name for ntp server, the switch will resolve the name to ip address and use the ip address. what is the output of the show ntp peer-status?
Can you switch get to TIME.WINDOWS.COM?
Have you tried another ntp server like pool.ntp.org?
Thanks
John

Hello,
Yes, it can resolve it.
I use this NTP server in other switches (3850) and i haven't any issue.
output from show ntp peer-status :
INFO: System clock is not controlled by NTP in this VDC
You can use "clock protocol <protocol> vdc <vdc_id>"
to change the current setting.
OS doesn't accept any further command after clock protocol ntp
clock protocol ntp ?

Hi,
"clock protocol ntp" means you will be using an NTP server. So, can you try:
clock protocol ntp
and than
ntp server TIME.WINDOWS.COM
and test?
