NX-OS Upgrade from 6.1(2--->6.2(12)

We have upgraded the secondary core NX-OS (7010) last time through ISSU following phased approach 6.1(2)  >  6.2(2a)  >  6.2(8a)  >  6.2(12) ,it went non- disruptive .

but just wanted to confirm one thing as we have direct fex's attached to the parent chassis as single homed  and  during the upgrade process fex's are also upgraded .So will the host connect to fex's will get any disruption or upgrading the fex's will not have any impact on it .

Thanks

As long as the hosts are connected to 2 different FEXs, they will not have downtime.  If a host (server) is connected to only one FEX, than you will have about 10 minutes of downtime during the FEX reboot.

Hi ,

Hosts are connected to both the single homed fex's on parent chasis to provide redundancy ,during the upgrade for parent chassis I saw the fex's were also upgraded ,Do you mean if the host attached to fex's are not dual homed then there will be downtime as the fex is upgraded ?

Also what is sequence of fex up gradation ,All in one go or sequentially ,Do we have any document supporting this facts .

That is correct.  If the server is attached to 2 different FEXs you are fine.

As for FEX upgrade sequencing, I am not sure how it is done and have not seen a document explaining it, but as long as your servers are dual homed to 2 different FEXs, you should be fine regardless of which FEX gets upgraded first.

Thanks but do you know is there any order for fex upgradation .
