Hello
We have two Cisco Nexus 9504 connected in a VPC-domain.
Recommended realese is 7.0(3)I4(8b) but we cannot use this release due to incompatible hardware.
we are using these line-cards:
1 52 48x10/25G + 4x40/100G Ethernet Module N9K-X97160YC-EX ok
2 52 48x10/25G + 4x40/100G Ethernet Module N9K-X97160YC-EX ok
3 52 48x10/25G + 4x40/100G Ethernet Module N9K-X97160YC-EX ok
4 52 48x10G + 4x40/100G Ethernet Module N9K-X9788TC-FX ok
We are currently using Release 7.0(3)I7(4).
On cisco.com I see a new release called 9.2(2) (and this release seem to work with our hardware/line-cards)
What is the difference between 7.0(3) and 9.2(2)?.....is 7.0 being repaced by 9.x in the future?
Should I stay on 7.0.xxx or go to 9.2.xx? (Cisco TAC are not "allowed" to recommend software to use)
Best regards
Magnus

- As far as differences are concerned, you should read the release notes for 9.x, watch out for new features , changes, etc....

v9 is initially an alignment train to allow the convergence of the whole of the N9k and N3k series switches. There is not currently a long-lived v9 release, so it is unlikely that there would be any recommendation to go there except for functionality reasons. I have experienced some issues with 9.2.1, so would suggest that if you want to go for a v9, you use 9.2.2. You might be best served by talking to your Cisco Account SE to get a view of the relevant software road maps.
Hope this helps
