OSPF LAS Types

Hello,

See attached. When I issue the sh ip ospf database command, the output lists the LSA types. Under LSA 1(Router), it lists that the Adv Router 10.255.255.254 has 5 links and when I issue the sh ip ospf int brief command on the same router, it only shows 4 links. Is the P2P considered as 2 links?

Thanks in advance.

Best, ~zK

Hello,

Yes, a point-to-point interconnection between two routers is represented using two links in an LSA1: One link represents the point-to-point interconnection between two routers, the other link represents the IP network on the point-to-point interconnection.

Thanks, Peter.

Yes, now I understand. The output produced from the adv router matches your explanation.

Much appreciated.
