Good day,
I am going to mount a 2 lan , which in 2 sites.the distance between sites is about 180m (meter), what the media i have to choose with 100bMb/s to connect the 2 sites ?
If media is 100base5, what is the actual cisco equipment compatible with ?
Best regards

Here is a description of Ethernet media and this distance limitations: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/cisintwk/ito_doc/ethernet.htm#wp1020862. Click on "Fastethernet". The authoritative version of the Ethernet standard is available from the IEEE at http://www.ieee802.org/3/.
As you can see, "100Base5" Ethernet media does not exist. If you want to use Fastethernet media over 100m reliably, you can use fibre optics (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps332/products_installation_and_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800e9d01.html#27345).

thank,
Did you mean that we can obtain 100Mb/s bandwith on coax ?

No.
There are several factors that can affect your coax speeds. The main one being that all local subscribers share the same cable bandwidth and as more users join the service, the available bandwidth drops. Quality is also affected by shielding. Poorly shielded coaxial cable may result in undesired signal leakage (egress), interference from over-the-air signals (ingress), or crosstalk between cables in close physical proximity.
I can't say fer sure, but I regularly saw speeds around 30-40Mbps in the New York City area on a 6Mhz cable channel around 2 years ago.
I hope this helps,
Josef.
