I am looking at a new core switch design for a school district that is on of my clients. For a variety of reasons, I would like to keep an IOS-based core switch, but I would also like part of the network to be interconnected via a high-speed Nexus switch. So, I am thinking of a C6807 with Sup-2t, a couple gig line cards, and a WS-X6904-40G-2T -- for interconnection to a Nexus N9K-C93120TX.
My question is this: Are the ports on the C6807 WS-X6904-40G-2T line card compatible with the QSFP ports on the Nexus N9K-C93120TX? I envision using a pair of CFP-40G-SR4 optics on the C6807 and a pair of QSFP-40G-SR4 optics on the Nexus N9K-C93120TX. The plan is to bond both 40Gbps connections in an etherchannel to create an 80Gbps connection. Has anyone out there done anything like this?
If it turns out this is possible, I would also like to know what kind of patch cable to use. I have found a few suppliers of MPO-12 to MPO-12 patch cables out there. One option has the connections (1-12) straight-through, and another type has the connections reversed (1 to 12, 2 to 11, and so forth). Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance!
