PoE and PoE plus

Hello,

I have a SG-300 10PP switch ( PoE+ switch ) and I would like to operate a certain device on standard 802.3af ( PoE ) power. Even if i configure the port to supply a maximum on 15.4W the device still boots up on PoE+ mode. Is there something I am missing out on or is this configuration not at all possible on this switch. Any replies would be helpful. 

Additional Info- The device is PoE compliant and boots up in PoE mode when connected to a 802.3af switch.

Hi,

I am not familiar with SG-300 series switches, but on other Cisco switches models you can assign the wattage statically to the interface.  The command is

power inline static max <4000-30000>  milli-watts
