PoE cable connect to regular Switch

Hi all,

I am just wondering if it could cause any damage when connecting a PoE enabled ethernet cable to a regular switch.

The situation is some of devices are connecting to the regular LAN switch through PoE injector in order to get the PoE for the device. But some users could connect the output cable back to the LAN switch by mistake. That's 48v. Could LAN switch be damaged in this situation?

But I also am thinking it should be fine since we always connect the router to PoE switch without getting any issue.Can someone clarify this?

Hi David,

The switch ports are the devices that provide power to the phones using a copper cable.  There is no issue in connecting the same cable to anther switch, PC, Laptop, router, etc....
