Prioritize traffic based on Destination IP

I am looking to find out if there is a way to do prioritze traffic that has a particular destination IP address.

I have a 100mb conneciton and want my traffic that is going to my terminal, mail, file etc.. servers, regardless of the type of traffic it may be, to hold priority over any other traffic.

Thanks for any input!

Hi,

prioritizing of traffic with LLQ will only get in action when there is congestion on the link otherwise what you can do is police traffic going to some destination so they do not take too much bandwidth.

To accomplish this you can either use legacy CAR feature or CB-policing.

here are the links for these features:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/11_1/feature/guide/CAR.html

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/qos/configuration/guide/qcfpoli_ps1835_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html

Regards.

Thank you for the information!

Can you recommend a switch model thats best for this type of thing?

Hi,

this CB-policing can be done on all L3 switches like 3550,3560 or 3750 for example.

Your final choice will depend based on other factors.
