Hello,
My client try to transfer huge blocks of data using the file transfer protocol (FTP) but he found that this transfer take a lot of time to be done. To make sure that this problem came from my network, he did the same process (tranferring files from my network and tranferring the same files from another network) and he figured out that the process take longer when he uses my network.
The server containing these files (on my network side) is behind a switch, then the switch is directly connected to a Firewall device, and then the Firewall is directly connected to another switch that sent my traffic to the other side. I checked this last switch and I found out that the interface which connects to the client side has many "Total output drops".
I'm wondering if this can be the source of the problem and I would like to understand if my switch Cisco can make this kind of problems when transferring huge blocks of files.

Hello ,
what is the switch model and what IOS version is running on it?
post a show version
in some older switches groups of GE ports 8 for example are managed by a single ASIC and this created performance issues. as the ASIC could not support full rate on all 8 ports.
Hope to help
