PXE Boot does not work - No DHCP addrress received (works fine with in Windows Guest)

Hello,

We're experiencing a bizar problem with pxe booting a windows 2016 server from a hyper-v environment.

We are not getting any IP address from the DHCP server, but when booting normal into the windows os the DHCP server does gives the server an IP address...

The DHCP server is also a windows server an on another vlan. 

The PXE server is on the same vlan 115 as de server that needs to pxe boot.

There are DHCP relay server(s) configured on the vlan 115 where the windows server that needs to pxe boot.

There are 2 Cisco Nexus switches that are providing redundant connection.

Below is the version and some configuration.

Not 100% clear on your setup.

Is your booting VM expected to go to your Windows DHCP server on another subnet to get it's initial address and boot loader options?

Or is there another DHCP instance which you have called the PXE server in the same subnet which should handle the initial configuration?

Have you done a packet capture to see if your the DHCPDiscover is making it to your DHCP server and responses sent back?

Yes the booting VM is expected to go to the Windows DHCP server on another subnet to get it's initial IP address and bootloader options and then download the image from the PXE server (Citrix Provisioning) on the same subnet.

I've also tried with the DHCP service enabled (and al the specifics configured) on the PXE server in the same subnet, but it won't work. 

Haven't done a capture yet. I suppose you're reffering to a wireshark capture on the DHCP server?

Hi,
I would normally try to capture as close to the booting machine as possible to begin with, particularly as you indicated that DHCP seemed to work with other machines in the subnet and look for the DHCP transaction messages (DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPOFFER, DHCPREQUEST and DHCPACK)
If it goes through the whole exchange, then you're likely looking at a problem with your DHCP options or client machine.

If you see DHCPDISCOVER, but no offer, then you'll want to move to the server to confirm that the message is being relayed and responded.
If not relayed there is a problem on the switch, as it is a NX-OS make sure that feature dhcp is enabled [command: show feature] (I did not see it in your config snippets, but you say it was working with other devices)
Check the status of the dhcp relay [command: show ip dhcp relay] and gather any statistics [command: show ip dhcp relay statistics] and paste here.
