Hi
I am just about finished designing a QOS solution and have one query with regards to the following command
srr-queue bandwidth shape 30 0 0 0
I am happy with what this command does and how the weights work.
I know the first weight is 1/30 of the interface bandwidth but what if this interface is on a throttled link?
My interface is a 1Gb sfp which links to a 1Gb National Ethernet network offered from one of my ISP's.
To keep costs down this 1Gb link has been software throttled to 100Mb.
I need my first shaped weight to be calculated on this 100Mb bandwidth.
**Could I use the bandwidth statement on the interface to help me get an accurate weight for my queue?**
I cant use the speed statement as the throttling takes place on the outgoing interface of the ISP's CPE
any help is always greatly appreciated.

Hi,
what hardware do you use?
(Most probably a switch, but which on e exactly?)

Hi Michael
I'm using a couple of 3560-48TS switches running IPSERVICES.
I've found out that the bandwidth statement will be ignored for what I was trying to do.
The shape command will do its calculation on the physical interface so I've adjusted my weights accordingly.

Hi Stuart,
I'm not 100% sure, but AFAIK you cannot configure shaping on a 3500 switch as you can do on a router.
The only way to limit your traffic would be using policing in inbound direction (unfortunately outbound is not possible).
Regards,
Michael
