Hi,
I understand how BVI works and uasage. This is scenario when you want to have router's routed interface bridge two interfaces on the same broadcast domain as Layer 2 switchports. So if there is a Cisco router model like C881 or C892 that comes with L2 switchports, do we really need to configure BVI still?

No, in that case you don't need any BVI. BVI was designed for Cisco routers with routed ports only (no switch ports).

Hi
No you dont need to configure that, I think there are other Cisco router like1811 & 1812 has layer 2 integrated. BVI is not used commonly but I have seen BVI configured on FWSM.
Hope it is useful
